Do you like reading a storybook? novel? or any kind of fiction story?

And when you read all of them, did you ever imagine something or a storyline in your mind?

Like — oh! I have an idea!

But you didn’t know what to do with all of the ideas that popped into your head.

So, here are some tips from me:

1. Write everything about your ideas in your notepad.

When you have an idea, even if it’s just a piece of writing, a sentence, or anything else, the first thing you should do is write it on your notepad (either on your phone, a notebook, or anything else that you are comfortable writing). It’s okay if you just write it in random words. Because the most important thing is that your ideas have been saved. So, it doesn’t matter if 5 minutes later or 1 hour later, you forget about your ideas — at least you already wrote and saved them on your note.

2. Read more novels or storybooks.

This step is very important to increase your vocabulary and knowledge of how to compose a sentence that is commonly used in fiction stories. You can also take notes or search for the meaning of words that you don’t understand. Then, after you know the meaning of those words, you can use them in your writing later.

3. Make sure you have a free time.

Writing takes so much time, so if you want to start writing, make sure to do that in your long free time so it doesn’t bother your daily activities. Also, when you are writing, make sure you choose your best place, which is far from sources of noise. You need to relax yourself while writing, and it also requires a very high level of focus.

4. Try to combine your ideas.

Based on the first step that you did before, try to make a sentence that will be the opening sentence of your writing. This first sentence affects the entire storyline, so make sure each sentence is connected. For your first draft, try to write just one paragraph. After that, you can practice your writing skills by repeating the same steps and trying to write more than one paragraph.

That’s all for some tips from me. Please don’t waste every single piece of your precious ideas.
